Supply Chain Transition
Partnering with food companies and financial institutions to move capital to the farmers in their supply chains.
Farmers can’t transition without capital. Capital at scale only happens when the biggest players in philanthropy, food, and finance pull together in the same direction.
Many food companies have committed to regenerative agriculture but lack the financial tools to deliver it at scale. Most efforts stall in one-off, pay-for-practice payments that don't endure or change the underlying economics for the farmers being asked to transition.
The finance system, in turn, lacks the data to fund regenerative operations with confidence. This leaves a persistent gap between commitment and capital.
Through supply chain transition, FS6 partners with food companies, financial institutions, and philanthropic funders to build the financial models that close that gap.
We operate at the rare intersection of food and finance – with more food expertise than financiers, and more finance expertise than food companies – translating corporate commitments into structures the finance system can underwrite, and financial innovation into terms that work on the farm.
Creating systemic change in how the finance system and food system unlock capital for farmers
We work through two complementary approaches:
Blended finance leverages limited philanthropic and corporate dollars into multiples of private capital, and feeds loan performance data back to lenders to build the financial evidence base regenerative agriculture needs to scale.
Regional aggregation pools resources from multiple actors sourcing from the same region to fund farmers together, achieving water, biodiversity, and climate outcomes at a scale no single company could reach alone.
