Become an FS6 Mentor
About FS6 Mentorship
One way we support the entrepreneurs in our cohorts is by providing them access to an extensive network of mentors that represent the leading thinkers and practitioners across the food system - including seasoned entrepreneurs, non-profit and corporate leaders, investors, and business domain experts. These mentorship relationships can take on many forms, and many mentor sessions result in relationships that extend beyond the reaches of our program, although this is not an expectation of mentor participation. The high-level summary of our mentorship program is laid out below. Types of Mentors FS6 hosts two types of mentors: those who will work directly with individuals or small-groups (2-3) through our MentorConnect program, and those who will support the cohort as a whole. In both cases, a mentor’s commitment is to a single cohort of entrepreneurs. |
Overview & Responsibilities

Examples of mentorship topics include:
- A particular area of business strategy such as fundraising vehicles, go-to-market plans, or messaging and branding.
- Insights into key areas of the value chain from farm-to-fork or the integration of sustainability, health, and equity objectives.
- Status and implications of active policy initiatives such as traceability and transparency standards, SNAP programs, or federal waste reduction targets.
Mentorship Scope
Mentors are welcome to continue relationships outside of session at their discretion, however, that is not a requirement of participation. All FS6 events are non-solicitation so entrepreneurs will not be initiating post-programmatic connections with mentors. If mentors are interested in staying connected to a specific entrepreneur after the program, they may provide contact information directly, or ask FS6 to make a direct introduction.
