Early-stage food-system entrepreneurs rarely prioritize their own finances. Building their own businesses, they struggle with paying themselves and the challenges of fundraising and financial stability. This is often an overlooked area of support for entrepreneurs but it is acutely needed, now more than ever. This half-day workshop is for those food system entrepreneurs who are looking to understand the history of how our monetary system functions and the tools that we need to manage our own finances to be more stabilized and empowered, as entrepreneurs and individuals.
In this three-hour workshop, you will learn from Nafasi Ferrell, Founder of Narratives Unbound, about how the financial system operates and how to build agency and personal power in an inherently unjust system. With a focus on the racial wealth gap and new innovative forms of restorative wealth redistribution, Nafasi will work with entrepreneurs to understand the system as well as to provide individualized financial coaching. Suparna Kudesia, Co-Director of CoFED and FS6 Portfolio Alumni, will speak to her perspective on this issue and engage in a discussion.
This live workshop will be limited to 15 entrepreneurs, to encourage interpersonal relationship building, and will include a live session of coaching. A portion of this session will be condensed into an on-demand webinar to be shared with our community after the event.
To apply, please complete this short 1-minute survey, here. All applicant surveys are due by October 14th. Participants will be notified of acceptance into the workshop by October 21st.
Please note: We are capping our live program at 15 participants. We will prioritize participants that are making a salary of less than $70k, those who have not received any financial coaching support before, and entrepreneurs working on community food solutions impacting sustainability and justice.
