Without Further Ado...

We are very excited to be officially announcing the 5th Cohort of FS6 Accelerator entrepreneurs today!

Cohort 5 is unique in that it is largely focused on supporting the farmers, ranchers, producers, and do-ers that are the foundation of any sustainable food system. As part of this year's program, we are thinking more and more about the infrastructure necessary to implement and bolster sustainable solutions, and how to better take care of the employees that are on the ground running these businesses day-to-day.

NEWS: Milkrun Announces First VC Investment and Participation in Techstars Accelerator.

MilkRun began 2020 by landing its first VC investment from Social Impact Capital led by Sarah Cone, a well-known champion for venture scale businesses that are solving the world’s most challenging issues.

Later in January, MilkRun announced that they would be joining the Techstars 2020 Anywhere cohort.

NEWS: Equitable Food Initiative Grows Their Team

Equitable Food Initiative is proud to welcome Ana Luisa “Lulu” Rivera Collazo in the newly created position of workforce development specialist. Rivera Collazo will be responsible for training EFI leadership teams in workplace collaboration and problem-solving skills.

NEWS: The Chef Ann Foundation has selected five districts for their fourth cohort of Get Schools Cooking

The Get Schools Cooking program is designed to guide districts through the process of becoming a sustainably-run, scratch-cook meal program. The program focuses on what CAF considers the five key areas of school food operations: food, finance, facilities, human resources and marketing.

CONTINUING EDUCATION:  Edible Schoolyard Summer Training 

The Edible Schoolyard Summer Training is a three-day (June 24th-26th) immersive training experience for teachers, educators, and administrators working with youth and food.

The Summer Training includes workshops on teaching technical gardening and cooking skills in a classroom setting, sessions sharing best practices in curriculum planning and school lunch reform, and discussions on important issues in edible education such as developing culturally relevant curriculum and avoiding food shaming.
